John: 90 days with the Beloved Disciple
             by Beth Moore
How:    Become a Daily Student of Jesus

One thing we learn from the study of Jesus’ life as recorded in the scriptures is that he was very purposeful in everything he did. He had great confidence in his mission and put that above all other things. He had so much confidence he didn’t blink when his parents told him they’d been looking frantically for him for three days, “Why?" he asked, "Didn’t you know I had to be in my father’s house?” I don’t think I would have been so confident if my father had approached me after frantically looking for me for three days. But even at twelve years old, Jesus was on mission and it sounds like at that time he thought everyone knew.
Do those closest to you know that you are on mission for Christ? Do they even know you know Jesus? Do you want to know him more?
Jesus spent a lot of time studying with the teachers of God’s word and that is exactly where his parents found him; studying with the teachers in the synagogue. Although I find that very interesting that he would need to; I also know that if I am going to know Jesus I need to be purposeful about my study as well. The study of John: The Beloved Disciple is an excellent place to begin this walk as a student of Christ. Setting aside a few minutes everyday for the personal reflection of God’s word will start you on an intentional mission for Christ that those around you can’t help but take notice of.
Join with us for introduction to the life of the Beloved Disciple: John. Over the next ninety days, you will get a glimpse into the life of one of the youngest students of Jesus and begin your own purposeful discipleship. You will learn about the questions John asked of Jesus and the great Truths that Jesus shared with him. You will come to know about the intimate relationship that Jesus has with his students and wants to have with you.
To start the study all you have to do is check back for our Day one posting on August 2, 2010. I recommend you follow along in the book, John: 90 Days with the Beloved Disciple by Beth Moore which is available online by clicking through on amazon.com image in the upper left corner of this post or by purchasing a copy at your local bookstore.      Some people have a hard time working in a daily study into their routine, feel free to reply to posts at any time during the study. However, you will reap benefits by remaining in daily study of God’s word whether through this study or a different study. Read this previous post to find out more about that: Who? The Word
