Day Fourteen: Secret Missions

Search, Discover, Share
Every day I am wondering what this day has to do with God’s plan for me. However, today I was acutely reminded that he is working in me and I have faith He is struggling to bring out the best in me. I had seriously judged someone and as much as I tried not to I jumped to conclusions about this person. Interestingly enough I ran into this person later in the day in the most unlikely place that a person I had judged to be what I thought he was would be. And people treated him in a way that I was forced to rethink the way I had thought about him. I am still trying to figure out the irony of this whole ordeal and all I can figure is that God is doing a great work in me. Seeing this person today in this rare setting would have been puzzling any day but not so much a great work in my character had God not brought us together in conflict earlier this week and day. God’s timing is so perfect that I knew our meetings this week were not by chance but by design. Designed to build a better character in me.
1. How deeply do you believe that each day is another opportunity to be on mission with God, that He has tasks in mind for you today that are specifically ordained for you life?

I also realized that meeting up with the Chaplain was no coincidence. The Psalm (Psalm 91) he shared with me not only reflects God’s promises while my daughter is deployed but spoke God’s word directly into the physical and spiritual attacks we have been experiencing at the ranch. This is both God’s blessing to the ranch and to a mother's heart who is preparing to send her daughter off in harm’s way as well as useful for restoring and rebuilding of faith. Does anything happen God can not turn to good; that is not worth our taking note of to build our character or to offer and accept encouragement directly from God?
But having gotten this understanding and encouragement, what shall become of it. I learned a little lesson today from the Tiger cub motto: Search, Discover, Share. God does not build us up just to sit around being enlightened; he wants us to take what we’ve gained and share it with others. We are on mission everyday and each mission is preparing us for the next one.

 Answer the following questions in your study guide:
     1. How deeply do you believe that each day is another opportunity to be on mission with God, that He has tasks in mind for you today that are specifically ordained for you life?
     2. How does you response to the first question affect the way you approach your morning, your lunch hour, your free time at home or around town?
    3. Think of one or two particular situations that are present in your life right now. What “secrets” of God’s will and way are you learning as you go through these seasons of time?

PRAY WITH ME:
Lord, help each of us to walk in your will and ways as we go throughout our day. Remind us as we work and play and interact with others that we are on mission for you. Keep us on task and guide us as we make each decision about what to do with our time, our finances, our actions, and our reactions. Grow us in character as we reflect on all you have done in us and through us and around us. In Jesus name, Amen.
