After reading and re-reading today's lesson trying to find the words to articulate some kernel of truth; I thought it might be best to take a moment of silence for reflection. Topic: relationships. Take a moment to reflect on the Joy God has brought you though the relationships you have had over your lifetime. Who has been there for most of the years? What about those who you knew only for a short time but left a big impact?
Think about the joy-footprints left by others.
Think about the joy-footprints left by others.
Take sometime today to consider those close to you who are suffering. What is one small thing you could do for them in the next couple days to make a difference? Send a card with a photograph to cheer them up; a scripture to encourage them, or a prayer to give them hope. Stop by to give them a hug; cook them a meal; or scrub their toilets. Give them a call to let them know you are thinking of them. Invite them on a walk or to watch the sunset or count the stars. Offer to go with them to a doctor's appointment or watch the kids so they can go out with their spouse or drive them to run some errands.

PRAY WITH ME:
Lord, sometimes we just feel helpless when we see our loved ones suffering. What can we do? We come to you, The Great Physician, who really does heal. We believe you still heal today. We are in awe of your magnificnet works in which you continue to reveal your glory to mere mortals. As we pray for healing and ask you for miracles for our own suffering and the suffering of those around us, I ask that you continue to encourage the sick as well as the caregivers and those who love them, with your magnificent works of wonder. Don't let the sight of your wonder and beauty get lost in our daily battle to survive. We reach out our hand to you, Lord... let us touch you and be healed. In Jesus name, Amen.
I hurt all the time, every single day, and some days worse than others. I thank God that I am able to keep going and doing the things I love, and that he has surrounded me with people who let me be "normal", and who understand when I just can't do it today.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this. This is a good reminder that we never know what someone else is going through. We just need to be one of those who gives people a break and trying our best to understand. A question that I struggled with when my husband died was, "How are you?" Good counsel helped me to come up with my answer, "Normal for what I'm going through."
